
Okay. Look at this poster? It has created some questioning whether this ad is effective or rather just trying to scare smokers from their current addiction. Well, it's just some photoshop effects on this so-called Oral Cancer. Okay, so the extent of going so far just to intimidate smokers has backfire on the Health Promotion Board. People complained, kids got nightmare from the advertisement and now, they are only allowed to screen it after certain timing and billboards are not allowed to be placed near any primary school's busstop.
Let's look at another controversial ad..

This ad was strongly criticized for it's theme "Fantasy Rape" which you could picture it from the above. While Dolce & Gabbana tries to defend their stand of giving consumers that extra feel and emotional attachment, National Organisation of Women President, Kim Gandy strongly opposed the decision of the continuing of featuring the ad as it provokes the women and feeling that they don't need anymore violence. Okay, another flop ad..
So how exactly an ad should be which would not provoke any RIGHTS and gives people the opportunity to criticize? The answer is Almost Impossible. The fact of the matter is no matter how good an ad can be, how well it's attention getting factor or how it conveys the message to the target market, there are still bound to be criticism. We can't control what a person says and what they say are mostly very subjective opinion. You like it, you say it's good. You don't like it, hell goes to you!
But i believe all these ads i've mentioned did manage to catch the attention of some people. People still called in to HPB for advice to quit smoking, Dolce Gabbana still making headlines here and there. So it somehow turn the bad publicity into a good one. Well, at the very least, they still have a group of people who still BELIEVE that the ad has the value and it is still conveying that message that needs to be conveyed!
Haha.. Okay why i'm saying all these is because, if you are smart enough, probably you will get to know the deeper truth of the surfaced writeout. Sorry that i have to use marketing point of view, haha but that's training and sharpening my skill.
Okay, anyway.. had a fun weekend.. Saturday played some badminton and sorry darren! if you are reading it, you gave me 10 missed calls and i didn't even noticed! I promise to run with you the next time round! Comes to Sunday, Service was short and good and it somehow gives me the feeling that the sermon is the extended version of Getting Started lesson 5. Haha. So went to play for Prayer Meeting, which was a last min decision by Jerblinn and then went to parkway, celebrated Henry's birthday but had to go off for dinner with Ah Ger before the birthday dinner.
Went to Fish & Co @ glass house and you really got to try out their Grilled Seasonal Fish which is yours only @ $14.90! Worth it. Oh yes, a nice place to be and really, i got to commend this female service crew, Sandra. She is really very interactive and it just makes my stay a more experiential one. Nice place, Nice food and it's FREE! Thank you Ger. Muahaha, now you can go and ask her for a treat. No, i didn't sabo you.. Just appreciating you.
Oh yar, i gave away my Ed Hardy Shirt to one of my close friends. Well, really don't ask me why because i just felt like it. Haha.. Maybe i'm expecting blessing. GOD!!!!
